About us
After years spent as a newspaper publisher, graphic designer, and marketing professional, I decided to pursue my passion — gluten-free baking! Inspired by an article I read in “Edible Boston” magazine, I quit my job, went to culinary school at Boston University, and started a new business.
I was diagnosed with celiac disease over twenty years ago. Back then it was almost impossible to find good gluten-free baked goods. It was self-preservation that led me to come up with delicious gluten-free recipes that didn’t taste or feel like eating cardboard. In 2009 I started baking in my home and selling at farmer’s markets. That evolved into Annie’s Gluten-Free Bakery, a dedicated gluten-free commercial kitchen in an old mill building in Shirley, MA. Our products are sold in a variety of stores and restaurants in the area, or you can order them online.
